Profile
Ismael Saibari is an attacking midfielder whose most useful runs often start away from the touchline. He can receive between the lines, shield the ball through contact and carry it towards the penalty area; he also moves beyond the striker when a pass opens the defence. That blend of strength, acceleration and timing makes him more than a stationary creator.
Born in Terrassa, Spain, Saibari grew up in Belgium and passed through Anderlecht and Genk's youth systems. He moved from Genk to Jong PSV in the summer of 2020. After developing in the reserve side, he reached PSV's first team later that year, beginning a gradual shift from promising academy player to a regular attacking option.
His game became harder to pin to one position at PSV. He could help build an attack from midfield, then arrive in the box to finish it. Former coaches described a player comfortable changing roles during a match, while PSV coach Peter Bosz singled out the combination of technique, power and awareness behind his influence.
Saibari's PSV years brought Dutch Cup wins in 2022 and 2023 and three successive league titles from 2024 to 2026. In September 2026 he was also named the Gouden Schoen winner for the 2025/26 season.
His senior Morocco debut came against Burkina Faso in September 2023, when he entered as a substitute. He later played in Morocco's 2026 World Cup campaign, scoring in group games against Brazil, Scotland and Haiti. Against Scotland, a run beyond the back line turned Brahim Díaz's pass into the winning goal.
Morocco then beat the Netherlands on penalties and Canada in the knockout rounds before losing to France in the quarter-finals. Saibari played against Canada but left early, and did not play in the quarter-final. His three group goals showed the same attacking movement that had developed at PSV on a much larger stage.
Bayern Munich announced his transfer from PSV on 1 July 2026, while he was still with Morocco at the World Cup; the clubs described his move to Munich as following the tournament. It was a new setting for a player who had grown from a Jong PSV prospect into a flexible attacking midfielder, able to link play and threaten the space behind defenders.
Ismael Saibari currently plays for Bayern München as a central midfielder. He has represented Morocco internationally.
