Profile
Darwin Núñez is a Uruguayan forward who makes defenders deal with movement as well as finishing. He can attack a cross in the air, run beyond a high defensive line or carry the ball in from the left. Those routes let him threaten the space around the centre-backs rather than wait in one place for a pass.
His route to European football ran through Peñarol in Uruguay, followed by Almería in Spain and Benfica in Portugal. He played for Almería in 2019–2020 before moving to Benfica in 2020. The progression took him from Uruguay to Spain and then into Champions League football.
At Benfica, his 2021/22 league season brought 26 goals and the Portuguese top-scorer award. The variety mattered alongside the total. Premier League analysis highlighted his headers, close-range finishes and runs onto through-balls, as well as his use from the left of the attack. His movement could give a teammate a target behind the defence or bring him inside to finish a cross.
Liverpool signed him from Benfica in summer 2022. He scored on his competitive debut as Liverpool beat Manchester City in the Community Shield. Later moments included two substitute goals to turn around a match at Newcastle and two stoppage-time finishes at Brentford in January 2025. He was part of the Liverpool side that won the 2024/25 Premier League title, with those late goals contributing to the campaign.
For Uruguay, Núñez made his senior debut against Peru in October 2019. He went on to represent his country at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups. That international career developed alongside his club moves, giving him another setting in which to apply his running and penalty-area threat.
In August 2025 he moved permanently from Liverpool to Al-Hilal. A year later, Al-Hilal approved a loan to Diriyah for the 2026/27 season. The later move was a temporary switch within Saudi football, following the permanent transfer that had ended his three seasons in England.
Darwin Núñez is listed as a striker for Al Diriyah. Current club-season figures are unavailable in Oddsivio's coverage.
Oddsivio's estimated value is €64.9m, as of 2 November 2026. That is down 0.6% since season start, compared with 3 August 2026. He ranks 58th among the 10,342 players with an Oddsivio estimate, and 35th among the 518 Premier League players with an estimate.
