Too small a gap against typical midfielders and forwards to name a leader. Pass completion depends a lot on role and team.

Per 90 = per 90 minutes played, so different minutes compare fairly.

Jude Bellingham still led (0.39 vs 0.09 per 90; 15 goals to 4).

How they play · volume, not a lead

Jude Bellingham shot far more (1.6 vs 0.7 per 90); Pedri made far more interceptions (1.0 vs 0.7 per 90) last season.

Why this comparison

Pedri was born on 25 November 2002 and Jude Bellingham on 29 June 2003, so they have grown up as the same football generation. Barcelona agreed to sign Pedri from Las Palmas in 2019, a year after Real Madrid sent him home from a trial. Bellingham joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in June 2023, and since then every Clásico has put them on opposite sides.

The honours have gone back and forth. Pedri was the Kopa Trophy winner and the Golden Boy in 2021; Bellingham won both in 2023. Both were named in the 2025 FIFPRO World 11. Internationally they are on opposite sides as well, Bellingham with England and Pedri with Spain.

Have they played each other?

Before September 2026, all nine of their competitive meetings were Clásicos: five in La Liga, three Supercopa de España finals and the 2025 Copa del Rey final, the finals played at neutral grounds. Pedri missed Bellingham's first competitive Clásico, in October 2023, through injury. Bellingham scored an added-time winner in April 2024 and the winning goal in October 2025; Pedri opened the scoring in the 2025 Copa del Rey final with a curling shot from outside the box. Their first senior meeting for their countries came at Wembley on 26 September 2026, in the Nations League.

What the numbers don't show

They are not doing the same job. ESPN's 2026 FC 100 ranks Bellingham among the attacking midfielders and Pedri among the central midfielders, and our lineup data for the two years to September 2026 shows the same split: about half of Bellingham's minutes came as a central attacking midfielder and a third on the left, while three quarters of Pedri's came in central midfield. A per-90 row that favours one of them often measures the job as much as the player.

Their coaching has been very different too. Pedri has played under Hansi Flick since 2024–25. Bellingham had Xabi Alonso until January 2026, Álvaro Arbeloa until June, and José Mourinho since. In April 2026 he described playing further forward in his first season, from the left in his second, and deeper after that.

Availability shaped 2025–26 for both. Bellingham had shoulder surgery in July 2025 and a hamstring injury in February 2026; Pedri was out for a month with a hamstring tear after the October 2025 Clásico and injured a hamstring again in January 2026. Transfermarkt counts 15 games missed by each that season. Our 2025/26 window also includes the 2026 World Cup, where Bellingham scored seven goals and Pedri lost his starting place from the quarter-finals on, as the questions below set out.

Questions fans ask

Bellingham had won the DFB-Pokal with Dortmund; La Liga, the Champions League and the Supercopa with Real Madrid in 2023–24; and the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup in 2024.

What individual awards have they won?

Pedri won the Kopa Trophy in 2021 with Bellingham second, and Bellingham won it in 2023 with Pedri third. Each has one Golden Boy. In the Ballon d'Or, Bellingham finished third in 2024 and Pedri eleventh in 2025; Bellingham was on the 30-player shortlist for 2026, announced in September 2026, and Pedri was not.

How did Bellingham and Pedri do at the 2026 World Cup?

Bellingham scored seven goals in eight games, won the Bronze Boot and set England's record for goals at a single World Cup as England finished third. Pedri started five of Spain's eight games; from the quarter-finals on he began on the bench and came on in all three, including the final, which Spain won 1–0 against Argentina after extra time.

How do their 2026/27 numbers compare?

Pick 2026/27 at the top of the page to see the new season as it comes in; we name a leader there only once both have played 1,800 minutes, because early-season per-90 figures swing a lot. Two changes to watch: Real Madrid appointed José Mourinho in June 2026, and in August 2026 Hansi Flick described Rodri, signed that summer, as Pedri's future partner in midfield.
