Overview
Founded in 1906, Deportivo La Coruna represent A Coruna and are among Galicia's most decorated clubs. Commonly called Depor, the blue-and-white side have built a following across the city and the wider region. Their home is the Estadio Municipal de Riazor, located close to the Atlantic waterfront and used by the club since 1944, with earlier Deportivo teams playing on a neighbouring ground of the same name.
Deportivo have won La Liga once, the Copa del Rey twice and the Supercopa de Espana three times. The Super Depor era began under Arsenio Iglesias and reached its peak under Javier Irureta, combining technical midfield play with disciplined defending. Alongside the 1999-2000 league title, that period included five successive Champions League appearances and the 2004 semi-final, reached after a celebrated comeback against AC Milan.

The Abegondo academy and training complex has supported a strong Galician recruitment tradition and produced players for the first team. Deportivo's fiercest rivalry is with Celta Vigo; their meetings are the Galician derby, widely known locally as O Noso Derbi. Fran Gonzalez, the long-serving captain, and Brazilian midfielder Mauro Silva are among the defining figures of the club's most successful era.
