Overview

Cesena in brief

Cesena were founded on 21 April 1940 as Associazione Calcio Cesena by a group led by Count Alberto Rognoni. They wear black and white, the colours of the city's coat of arms, and are known as the Bianconeri or the Cavalluccio, after their seahorse emblem. Their stadium, first called La Fiorita, was named after president Dino Manuzzi in 1982 and has been called Orogel Stadium - Dino Manuzzi since a sponsorship deal in 2014. The present club was formed in 2018 after A.C. Cesena's bankruptcy and counts that history as its own.

Under Dino Manuzzi, president from 1964, Cesena won Serie C in 1968 and reached Serie A for the first time in 1973. In 1975-76 they finished sixth, their best Serie A placing, and qualified for the 1976-77 UEFA Cup, where they faced Magdeburg. Cesena have played 13 Serie A seasons in all; Pierpaolo Bisoli's back-to-back promotions brought them back in 2010. Their trophies include the 2004 Coppa Italia Serie C, the 2024 Supercoppa di Serie C and four third-tier titles, the latest won with 96 points in 2023-24.
