Overview

Annecy in brief

FC Annecy were founded in 1927 in Annecy, in the French Alps, with Louis Monnet as first president. They play in red and white and are known as Les Rouges. The original club was wound up in 1993 after being relegated on the pitch and then administratively; a new club, Annecy FC, was formed the same year and took back the FC Annecy name in 2013, counting the old club's history as its own. The Parc des Sports has been home since 1964, though pitch and floodlight works sent the first 2025-26 home games to Dijon.

The old club's main honour was the French amateur championship of 1960, won under coach Stanislas Golinski. It reached the second division in 1988, with a best finish of ninth in 1990-91. The new club spent more than twenty years in the regional leagues before returning to national level in 2015, then won promotion to Ligue 2 in 2022 as Championnat National runners-up, beating Sedan 2-0 on 13 May. In 2023 they were reprieved from relegation when Sochaux were demoted for financial reasons.
