Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Annecy 53%, the draw 27%, Nancy 20%. It finished Annecy 1–2 Nancy.
Annecy's higher rating gives them a slight lean — We give Annecy 53% mainly because they sit 96 points higher on our strength rating, 1525 to 1429, though Nancy's habit of controlling the ball, with 51% possession to 46% in recent games, pulls a little the other way. The draw sits at 27%, starting from the usual 25% for a gap this size and nudged up because both sides' recent games average 2.5 goals.
Why Annecy at 53%?
Annecy sit 96 points higher on our strength rating — 1525 to 1429. Sides with a 80–160-point rating edge at home won 56.7% of 13,355 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 52–31–17.
Why only 53%?
Nancy hold 5 more possession points (51 to 46 in recent games) across a 96-point rating gap. Control now carries a receipt beyond near-equals too: sides with this control edge at a 60–120-point rating gap won 42.7% of 8,638 such games where the class table expected 40.6%.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Nancy win?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 24.9%. These teams' recent games average 2.5 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.5% of 28,336. The goals environment adds 1.1 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Nancy have gained 76 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: climbing sides won 39.9% of 11,201 such games vs 40.5% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. Nancy come into this after a busy window — 14 arrivals and 14 departures over the summer. Squad turnover reads dramatic but hasn't moved results once the rating is controlled: the busiest windows landed within noise across 5,368 games, rebuilt elevens likewise across 5,446, and even losing the most regular starters showed nothing (5,336).
