Overview

Arezzo in brief

Arezzo trace their history to Juventus Foot Ball Club, founded in the Tuscan city in September 1923, who first wore yellow shirts with black shorts. The club became Unione Sportiva Arezzo in 1930, and the amaranto (dark red) colour behind the nickname Amaranto arrived in 1937. The present Societa Sportiva Arezzo was formed in 2018 after the previous club's bankruptcy; it counts the history since 1923 as its own. Home since 1961 has been the former Stadio Comunale, renamed Stadio Citta di Arezzo in 2006.

Arezzo have never played in Serie A. They first won promotion to Serie B in 1966 and returned in 1969 under Omero Tognon. Antonio Valentin Angelillo's side won the third tier in 1982, a year after the club's only Coppa Italia Serie C, and in 1983-84 Arezzo finished fifth in Serie B, five points short of promotion. A 2004 third-tier title was followed by the Supercoppa di Serie C. After collapses in 1993, 2010 and 2018, Arezzo won Serie C Group B in 2026 to return to Serie B after 19 years.
