Overview
Founded in 1920, Osasuna are Pamplona's leading football club and the only side from Navarre to have established a substantial top-flight history. Their Basque name means health or vigour, while the red shirts give rise to the nickname Los Rojillos. Osasuna play at El Sadar, a steep-sided ground opened in 1967 whose atmosphere has become central to the club's member-owned identity.
Osasuna have won Segunda Division four times and reached Copa del Rey finals in 2005 and 2023. Their strongest league finishes were fourth place in 1990-91 and 2005-06, and they reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals in 2006-07. Sides led by Javier Aguirre and Jose Angel Ziganda reinforced a longstanding reputation for intense pressing, physical commitment and collective organisation rather than dependence on individual stars.
