Overview

1899 Hoffenheim in brief

Founded in 1899, TSG Hoffenheim represent Hoffenheim, a village within the municipality of Sinsheim in northern Baden-Wuerttemberg. Known as Die Kraichgauer after the surrounding Kraichgau region, the club play in blue and white. Their home is the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim, opened in 2009 after the team outgrew the smaller Dietmar-Hopp-Stadion in Hoffenheim during its rapid ascent through the German league system.

Hoffenheim's senior honours include the 2001 Oberliga Baden-Wuerttemberg title, the 2000 Verbandsliga Baden championship and four consecutive North Baden Cups. Investment associated with former youth player Dietmar Hopp enabled a climb from amateur football, while Ralf Rangnick led successive promotions to the top two divisions in 2007 and 2008. His early Bundesliga side became known for aggressive pressing, speed and direct attacking combinations.
