Overview

Falkirk in brief

Falkirk Football Club was founded in 1876 in Falkirk, the date the club uses, although some accounts give 1877. It joined the Scottish Football Association in 1878 and played at Hope Street, Randyford Park and Blinkbonny Park before settling at Brockville Park, its home from the mid-1880s until 2003. After a season sharing Stenhousemuir's Ochilview Park, the club moved in 2004 to the Falkirk Stadium in Westfield. The team wears navy blue and white, and its nickname, the Bairns, is a Scots word for children given to natives of the town.

Elected to the Scottish Football League in 1902-03, Falkirk finished second to Celtic in 1907-08 and 1909-10, still their highest league placing. They won the Scottish Cup in 1913 against Raith Rovers and in 1957 after a replay against Kilmarnock, and were runners-up in 1997, 2009 and 2015. The 2009 final led to their only European campaign, ended by Vaduz in the 2009-10 Europa League qualifiers. They won League One unbeaten in 2023-24 and the Championship in 2024-25, an eighth second-tier title, returning to the top flight after 15 years.
