Overview

Ham-Kam in brief

Ham-Kam, short for Hamarkameratene, literally the Hamar Comrades, and often written HamKam, are a professional football club from Hamar in eastern Norway. The club was founded on 10 August 1918 as Freidig, a local team for the Briskebyen district, then part of Vang Municipality, and took its present form in 1946 through a merger of Briskebyen Fotballag, as Freidig had become, with Hamar Arbeideridrettslag. The team play in green and white and are nicknamed Kamma and Gronnbuksene. Home is Briskeby Arena (Briskeby Stadion), formerly Briskeby gressbane, which the club built and opened on 28 June 1936; a new stadium on the site opened in 2008.

Ham-Kam have not won the Norwegian league title or the Norwegian Football Cup. The club first qualified for the top division in 1970 and has since always played in one of the top three tiers of Norwegian football; third place in 1970 remains its best top-flight finish. Their best cup record is six semi-final appearances, each ending in defeat, so they have yet to reach a final. The current spell in Eliteserien began after promotion in 2021, and the 2026 season is their fifth in a row at the top level. Briskeby itself has cup history: the 1938 final between Fredrikstad and Mjondalen drew a record crowd of 14,500.
