Overview

FC Copenhagen in brief

FC Copenhagen was founded on 1 July 1992 as a joint superstructure of two old Copenhagen clubs, Kjobenhavns Boldklub (KB, founded 1876) and Boldklubben 1903, after both ran into financial difficulties. The new club took over B 1903's licence to play in the Superliga, while KB became its reserve team. FCK played its first home games at Osterbro Stadion before moving next door to the rebuilt Parken in September 1992. The club bought Parken, also the Denmark national stadium, in 1998. Fans call the team the Lions.

Copenhagen won the Superliga in their first season, 1992-93, and have since taken a record 16 Danish titles, the latest in 2024-25, plus a record 10 Danish Cups. Beating Silkeborg 3-0 in the 2025 cup final completed the club's sixth league and cup double. In 2006-07 FCK reached the Champions League group stage for the first time, and in 2010-11 they became the first Danish club to reach its round of 16. In 2019-20 they reached the Europa League quarter-finals.
