Overview

Slavia Prague in brief

Slavia Prague began in 1892 as ACOS, a cycling section of the Slavia patriotic student society in Prague. After police dissolved the society in 1894, SK Slavia was founded in 1895 to replace it, and the club played its first football matches in March 1896. Its colours, red and white, were adopted in 1895. The team wears them in a halved shirt with a red five-pointed star, and fans call the players "Sesivani" (the stitched ones). Slavia has played at Eden, in the Vrsovice district, since 1953, apart from a few short spells elsewhere. The current stadium opened there in 2008 and has been called Fortuna Arena since 2022.

Slavia won the first Czechoslovak league season in 1925. It added two hat-tricks of titles, from 1928-29 and from 1932-33, and four in a row in wartime from 1939-40. In 1938 it won the Mitropa Cup, beating Ferencvaros in the final. After the 1946-47 title the club waited 49 years for another, and it was relegated in 1961 and 1963. The 1995-96 champions also reached the UEFA Cup semi-finals. Slavia first reached the Champions League group stage in 2007-08, went through the 2020-21 league season unbeaten, and won the 2025-26 Czech title.
