Overview

AC Horsens in brief

AC Horsens (Alliance Club Horsens) was founded on 1 January 1994 as a joint elite team for Horsens in eastern Jutland. It was set up by two local clubs, Horsens fS (founded in 1915) and FC Horsens. FC Horsens later left the senior partnership, so Horsens fS is now the only parent club. The team first played in white and dark blue and switched to Horsens fS's yellow and black in 1998. The nickname Den Gule Fare (The Yellow Danger) goes back to Horsens fS's top-flight spell of 1927-1932. Home games are played at Horsens Idraetspark, rebuilt from 2007 and called Hybel Arena Horsens since January 2026.

Before the merger, Horsens fS finished third in the Danish championship in 1967. AC Horsens won promotion to the Superliga for the first time in 2005, bringing top-flight football back to Horsens for the first time since 1970. After relegation in 2009, the club won the 1st Division in 2009-10. Its best season was 2011-12: fourth in the league and a first Danish Cup final, lost 1-0 to FC Copenhagen. The club was relegated again in 2013, 2021 and 2023 (the last time on goal difference). It came back up in 2016, in 2022 as 1st Division champions, and in 2026 as runners-up.
