Overview

Union St. Gilloise in brief

Union Saint-Gilloise, often shortened to Union or USG, are one of the historic football clubs of Brussels. Founded on 1 November 1897 in Saint-Gilles, the club has played since 1919 at the Joseph Marien Stadium in neighbouring Forest. The team wear blue and yellow, are nicknamed Les Unionistes, and play Vamos a la playa as their goal song.

Union dominated Belgian football before the Second World War, winning 11 national titles between 1904 and 1935 and going 60 league matches unbeaten from 1933 to 1935, a national record. A long decline followed that took the club as low as the fourth tier, before Union returned to the top division in 2021 after 48 years. In 2025 they won a 12th league title, ending a 90-year wait; they have also won four Belgian Cups, in 1913, 1914, 2024 and 2026, the Belgian Super Cup in 2024 and 2026, and reached the Champions League league phase for the first time in 2025-26.
