Overview

Reims in brief

Stade de Reims grew out of the Societe Sportive du Parc Pommery, formed in 1910 around the Pommery champagne house, and took its present name on 18 June 1931, the date given as the club's foundation. The red and white colours arrived with a 1938 merger with Sporting Club Remois, hence the nickname Les Rouges et Blancs. Home is the Stade Auguste-Delaune, named after a communist athlete and resistance member who died under torture in 1943.

Reims won six French league titles between 1949 and 1962, most of them under Albert Batteux, coach from 1950 to 1963, plus the Coupe de France in 1950 and 1958. They reached the European Cup final in 1956 and 1959, losing both to Real Madrid. Liquidated in 1991 and refounded in 1992, the club climbed back with the 2004 National title and the 2018 Ligue 2 title. In 2025 they lost the Coupe de France final to Paris Saint-Germain and were relegated after a play-off against Metz.
