Jagiellonia

Jagiellonia Bialystok, widely known as Jaga, are a football club from Bialystok in the Podlasie region of north-eastern Poland. They were founded on 30 May 1920 in Bialystok by soldiers of the reserve battalion of the 42nd Infantry Regiment, and played their first match, a 5-1 win over Kresowcy Bialystok, the same day. The name Jagiellonia, adopted in 1932, refers to the Jagiellonian dynasty that ruled Poland for two centuries. The team play in yellow and red. Home matches are played at the city-owned stadium on Sloneczna Street in Bialystok, opened in 2014 and called Chorten Arena under a naming-rights deal since September 2024.

Jagiellonia first reached the top division in 1987 under coach Janusz Wojcik, but long spells in the lower leagues followed, including a drop to the fourth tier in the 1990s, before a return to the Ekstraklasa in 2007. Their first major trophies were the Polish Cup in 2010, won against Pogon Szczecin, and the Polish Super Cup the same year. After finishing runners-up in 2017 and 2018, they won their first Ekstraklasa title in 2024, beating Warta Poznan 3-0 on the final day to edge out Slask Wroclaw on head-to-head record. A second Super Cup followed in April 2025. In Europe they reached the Conference League quarter-finals in 2024-25, losing to Real Betis, and the knockout play-offs in 2025-26, and in August 2026 they eliminated Rangers 3-2 on aggregate in the Europa League third qualifying round on their way to the Europa League league phase for the first time.
