NK Varazdin

NK Varazdin are a professional football club from Varazdin in northern Croatia. The present club was founded on 1 July 2012 as NK Varazdin Skola nogometa (Varazdin SN). It was set up as a phoenix club after the city's original NK Varazdin, founded in 1931 and long known as Varteks, was suspended over heavy debts during the 2011-12 season. The old club was declared bankrupt and dissolved in 2015, and the new club then took the NK Varazdin name. The team play at Stadion Varteks, which opened in 1931 and is popularly known as Stadion Andelko Herjavec.

The Croatian Football Federation keeps the records and honours of the two clubs separate, so the modern club's honours begin in 2012. Starting in the county leagues, NK Varazdin won the First County League of Varazdin in 2014-15, were promoted from the third tier in 2017 and won the Croatian Second Football League in 2018-19, reaching the top flight for 2019-20. They were relegated in 2021, won the second tier again in 2021-22, and later finished fourth in 2024-25 and third in 2025-26. They have played in the Conference League twice, losing in the second qualifying round to Santa Clara in 2025 and to Jablonec in 2026.
