Overview

Molde in brief

Molde Fotballklubb, usually shortened to Molde or MFK, is the football club of the town of Molde on Norway's north-west coast. It was founded on 19 June 1911 under the name International, possibly because early opponents were often visiting ships' crews, and became Molde Fotballklubb in 1915. The team wear blue shirts and white shorts. Since 1998 they have played at Reknes, by the seafront in central Molde, in the stadium now called Aker Stadion. The supporters' club, Tornekrattet, is named after the town's nickname, the Town of Roses.

Molde spent most of their early decades in regional and lower leagues, and have largely stayed in the top division since 1974. They finished second many times before winning a first league title in 2011, the club's centenary year. Further titles followed in 2012, 2014, 2019 and 2022, giving five in all, and 2014 brought the first league and cup double. Molde have won the Norwegian Football Cup six times: 1994, 2005, 2013, 2014, 2022 and 2023. In Europe they reached the Champions League group stage in 1999-2000, the last 16 of the 2020-21 Europa League, and the Conference League last 16 in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
