Levante — La Liga: stats, lineups & analysis
Match report
Moleiro turns Villarreal's recovery into a home breakthrough
Villarreal's recovery now has something it was missing: a home win. The 3-1 victory over Levante was their second consecutive La Liga success and their first at La Cerámica this season, giving Iñigo Pérez a more convincing answer to his call for reliability after the midweek win at Málaga.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data and the sources linked below.
Alberto Moleiro shaped all three Villarreal goals. He released Ayoze Pérez for the opener, then responded to Iván Romero's quick equaliser by running onto Ilias Akhomach's backheel and restoring the lead after half-time. His later through ball sent substitute Georges Mikautadze clear to finish the scoring, completing a goal-and-two-assist performance.
Villarreal were more assured after going back in front. AS described them keeping the ball away from a Levante side that struggled to build sustained pressure, before Mikautadze's late goal settled the result. After Levante had cancelled out their first lead almost immediately, protecting the second was an important part of the improvement.
AS's post-match analysis described Pérez moving away from two forwards to use a creator behind one striker, with Moleiro free between the lines and Akhomach attacking Manu Sánchez from the right. Their backheel-and-finish combination for 2-1 showed how those roles came together.
Alberto Moleiro scored once and assisted Ayoze Pérez and Georges Mikautadze, directly contributing to all three Villarreal goals.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Villarreal 61%, the draw 22%, Levante 17%. It finished Villarreal 3–1 Levante.
Villarreal's rating edge carries it — Villarreal are the stronger side on our strength rating, and La Liga home advantage on top gives Villarreal a clear lead. The draw at 22% is held down by a high-scoring environment.
Why Villarreal at 61%?
Villarreal sit 141 points higher on our strength rating — 1907 to 1765. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge at home won 57.1% of 12,840 such games. La Liga home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to away wins (28.3% vs 30.2%). La Liga homes won 46.6% of 6,144 games vs 44.9% across all 100,474 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly. The 300 most similar past games finished 58–23–19.
Why only 61%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 61% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 22% and Levante at 17%.
Why is the draw only 22%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 24.1%. These teams' recent games average 3.8 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 17,298. The goals environment takes 2.1 points off the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Villarreal have averaged 15 percentage points more possession than Levante in recent games. That doesn’t change our forecast here. Levante come into this after a busy window — 10 arrivals and 15 departures over the summer. Squad turnover reads dramatic but hasn't moved results once the rating is controlled: the busiest windows landed within noise across 5,368 games, rebuilt elevens likewise across 5,446, and even losing the most regular starters showed nothing (5,336). The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
