Birmingham and Wolves shared four goals in a frantic opening period of this Championship fixture, the sides eventually settling for a 2-2 draw. Birmingham responded through Jay Stansfield, who levelled in the 22nd minute with Patrick Roberts supplying the assist, only for Ladislav Krejčí to restore the visitors' lead nine minutes later, teed up by André. Birmingham's equaliser arrived in unfortunate fashion when Jackson Tchatchoua turned the ball into his own net in the 36th minute, making it 2-2 and setting the scoreline for the remainder of the match.
No further goals followed the flurry before half-time, with the second period passing without any change to the score. Birmingham had the greater share of possession and produced more shots and corners across the ninety minutes, but neither side could find a breakthrough to move ahead again, leaving the points shared.
Fer López opened the scoring inside three minutes and finished with the highest rating on the pitch at 8.2, while teammate Ladislav Krejčí also found the net as Wolves' attack proved the more incisive of the two.
Birmingham held the edge in territory with 53% of possession, yet it was Wolves who made their moments count.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Birmingham 20%, the draw 28%, Wolves 52%. It finished Birmingham 2–2 Wolves.
Wolves' rating gap, but the draw is in play — Wolves are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and the early-season home fade plus a weak Championship home advantage on top give Wolves the lean. The draw at 28% is helped by a draw-heavy league.
Why Wolves at 52%?
Wolves sit 201 points higher on our strength rating — 1495 to 1695. Sides with a 200–300-point rating edge on the road won 51.9% of 6,069 such games. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Birmingham's column. Across 10,972 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.7% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018. Championship home sides under-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to draws (26.9% vs 24.9% norm). Championship homes won 43.0% of 8,414 games vs 44.9% across all 99,907 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly. The 300 most similar past games finished 28–25–47.
Why only 52%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 52% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 28% and Birmingham at 20%.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Birmingham win?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 24.0%. These teams' recent games average 3.0 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 25,004. Championship runs draw-heavy, adding 2.0 points. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Wolves are winless in their last 21 league games away from home (6 draws, 15 defeats), a run going back to May 2025. A long road winless run reads like a warning, but the receipts don't treat it as one: visitors on a 6+ league run without an away win won 25.8% of 13,631 games vs 24.9% class-expected — slightly more, not fewer. Last 6 between them: Birmingham 1 win, 1 draw, Wolves 4 wins. Most recently Wolves 2–0 Birmingham, 8 years ago. Fixture history hasn't carried forward once class is level: past leaders won just 28.1% of 5618 such games — no measurable edge, 0 points.
