Spain overwhelmed Saudi Arabia 4-0 in this World Cup Group Stage - 2 fixture at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, moving swiftly clear inside the opening half hour before adding a fourth after the break. Luis de la Fuente's side were rampant from the start, while Georgios Donis's Saudi Arabia never found a foothold in the contest.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Lamine Yamal opened the scoring in the 10th minute, converting after being set up by Mikel Oyarzabal. Oyarzabal then took over himself, doubling the lead in the 21st minute before adding a third just three minutes later, the second created by Aymeric Laporte and the third by Dani Olmo. Spain led 3-0 at half-time, a scoreline that fairly reflected their control.
Four minutes into the second half, H. Tambakti turned the ball into his own net to make it 4-0, compounding a miserable evening for Saudi Arabia. Spain dominated possession throughout with 67 percent of the ball and produced 22 shots to Saudi Arabia's three, eight of them on target, underlining the gulf between the sides across the ninety minutes.
Oyarzabal scored twice and set up another for a rating of 9.3, driving Spain's rout from the middle of the pitch.
Spain's 22 shots to Saudi Arabia's three illustrated just how one-sided the attacking exchanges were.
