Profile
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a centre-forward whose best work often begins before a cross arrives. He stays close enough to goal to attack the six-yard area, then uses timing and elevation to meet deliveries or react to loose balls. That can look simple, but the value is in giving wide players a clear target and making defenders turn toward their own goal.
His route to the top flight began at Sheffield United, with loan spells at Stalybridge Celtic and Northampton Town before a move to Everton in August 2016. He made his Premier League debut against Arsenal that December and scored his first league goal against Hull City later in the season. Those steps took him from lower-league experience to a regular place in Everton's attack.
In June 2017 he scored the only goal against Venezuela in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup final. It won England the title, and the finish added an international milestone to a club career that was still taking shape.
At Everton, a tactical change under Carlo Ancelotti sharpened his role. After working as one of two forwards and making more runs into wide areas, he played more centrally in 2020/21, with James Rodríguez and advancing full-backs helping to supply the box. The Premier League's analysis linked that positioning to more headed attempts and close-range chances; Calvert-Lewin finished the league season with 16 goals.
His senior England debut came against Wales in October 2020, when he headed in Jack Grealish's cross. He also played in two matches at UEFA EURO 2020, entering against Croatia and Ukraine as England reached the final, although he did not play in the final itself.
After leaving Everton, Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds in August 2025. A switch to a 3-5-2 later that year gave him a nearby strike partner and more chances to combine close to goal. His 14 Premier League goals in 2025/26 included a late winner against Brighton in May. Against Brentford in August 2026, he arrived to turn in a cross from close range. The finishes show how his game blends work alongside another forward with the instinct to find space inside the box.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently plays for Leeds as a striker. He has represented England internationally.
