Profile
Noah Okafor gives a defender two problems: track his run from wide, or risk leaving space behind. He can start on either wing or through the middle. His pace threatens the back line, while carrying the ball lets him attack a marker who holds position. Both routes aim to get him into the area for a finish.
He came through Basel's youth system and made his first-team debut in 2018. The 2018/19 season brought a Swiss Cup win for Basel and a senior Switzerland debut for Okafor. He moved to Salzburg in January 2020. The club won four Austrian league titles and three domestic cups during his time there.
Europe supplied a clear picture of his finishing. In the 2021/22 Champions League group stage, Okafor scored twice against Wolfsburg and the winner against Sevilla as Salzburg became the first Austrian club to reach the knockout phase. The next season, he equalised at Chelsea by meeting Junior Adamu's cross. Both moments depended on arriving in the scoring area at the right time.
AC Milan signed him in July 2023. That movement had another use off the bench: by March 2024, four of his first five goals that campaign had come as a substitute, including a late winner against Lazio. He could affect a match after entering it, rather than relying only on a starting role.
A February 2025 loan took him to Napoli, whose squad won the 2024/25 Serie A title. Leeds signed him from Milan in August 2025. His first Premier League season included a second-half equaliser at Chelsea and a brace away to Manchester United: different examples of his knack for finding a finishing position.
For Switzerland, Okafor had been named in the 2022 World Cup squad. At the 2026 tournament, he came on against Algeria in a 2-0 win. In September 2026 he said he would not play for Switzerland again under coach Murat Yakin. From Basel through Austria, Italy and England, his starting point has changed, but his direct movement toward goal has remained the common thread.
Noah Okafor currently plays for Leeds as a left winger. He has represented Switzerland internationally.
