Profile
Michael Olise is a French winger and attacking midfielder whose left foot shapes his game. From the right flank, quick touches and short bursts help him move inside a defender, opening an angle to shoot or find a teammate. He can also create from behind the striker.
Born in London on 12 December 2001, he spent time in the academies of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before developing at Reading. His first senior appearance came in March 2019, giving him a route into professional football through the Championship.
His breakthrough followed in 2020/21, when seven league goals and 12 assists helped earn him the EFL Young Player of the Season award. He joined Crystal Palace in July 2021, taking that mix of dribbling and delivery into the Premier League.
He joined Bayern Munich in July 2024 and won the Bundesliga in his first season, 2024/25, when he was named the league’s Rookie of the Season. In 2025/26, he won another league title and the German Cup, and was named Bundesliga Player of the Season.
With France, Olise won silver at the Paris Olympics in 2024. He made his senior international debut against Italy on 6 September that year.
At the 2026 World Cup, he supplied a tournament-leading seven assists as France finished fourth.
His game offers more than the cut inside. Premier League analysis highlighted his accurate set-piece delivery during his Reading breakthrough; the Bundesliga later noted how often he supplied crosses as well as carrying the ball infield. Defenders who close his route towards goal still have to account for the passes he can deliver to runners in the box.
Michael Olise currently plays for Bayern München as a right winger. He has represented France internationally.
