Profile
Kamory Doumbia is an attacking midfielder whose best work happens between build-up and finish. He finds pockets close to the box, where a short pass can release a runner or a loose ball can become a shot. That mix of creation and finishing makes him more than a conventional goalscorer.
His route to French football began at the Jean-Marc Guillou academy in Mali. Reims brought him over in summer 2021, first placing him with their reserve group before he reached the senior squad under Óscar García. He developed from there into a Ligue 1 player.
Reims loaned Doumbia to Brest in September 2023. During 2023/24 he was often used from the bench, making decisive actions in limited time especially valuable. On 20 December 2023 he scored all four of Brest's goals against Lorient before half-time. One of those goals later won the UNFP's public-voted Ligue 1 goal of the season award, an individual prize rather than a team title.
The loan became a permanent move in August 2024, before Brest's first European campaign. Doumbia started a Champions League win away to Sparta Prague that November. Brest's compact shape and counters gave him opportunities to combine with centre-forward Ludovic Ajorque: he could receive near the striker and attack space opened by their movement.
In an August 2025 league match at Lens, Doumbia found space ahead of Brest's midfield and threaded a pass for Mama Baldé to score after Ajorque's pressing helped win the ball. Earlier that month against Lille, he reacted to a failed clearance for one goal and struck from range for another. His threat comes from reading the next phase of an attack as well as carrying it himself.
His Mali career offers another example of that timing. In March 2025 he scored twice against Comoros in World Cup qualifying, finishing moves supplied by teammates. He later played for Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations staged across December 2025 and January 2026; Mali reached the quarter-finals, where Senegal ended their run. Across club and country, he connects play near goal and arrives for the final action.
Kamory Doumbia currently plays for Stade Brestois 29 as an attacking midfielder. He has represented Mali internationally.
