Overview

Slask Wroclaw in brief

Slask Wroclaw, known as WKS or Wojskowi (the Military Men), are a football club from Wroclaw, the capital of Lower Silesia. The club traces its roots to 18 March 1946 and was formally founded in 1947 as an army sports club, which is where the military nickname comes from; Slask is the Polish name for Silesia. The team play in green, white and red. Their home is the city's stadium, built for Euro 2012. It has been called Tarczynski Arena Wroclaw under a naming-rights deal since 2021, and that deal has since been extended.

Slask have won two Ekstraklasa titles, in 1977 and 2012, and finished runners-up in 1978, 1982, 2011 and 2024. They have won the Polish Cup twice, in 1976 and 1987, and were beaten finalists in 2013. They also won the Polish Super Cup in 1987 and 2012, and the Ekstraklasa Cup in 2009, beating Odra Wodzislaw 1-0 in the final. Their best European run took them to the quarter-finals of the 1976-77 Cup Winners' Cup, and they reached the last 16 of the UEFA Cup in 1975-76 and 1978-79. Slask were relegated in 2025, a year after finishing second, and won promotion back to the Ekstraklasa in 2026.
