Overview

Hull City in brief

Founded in 1904, Hull City represent Kingston upon Hull and the wider East Riding of Yorkshire. Their amber-and-black striped shirts explain the nickname the Tigers, an identity used throughout the club's history. Hull play at the MKM Stadium, opened beside West Park in 2002, after spending more than half a century at Boothferry Park. The move provided a modern home shared with the city's rugby league tradition.

Hull have won four championships at the third level of English football and two Championship play-off finals. Their 2008 Wembley victory brought top-flight football to the city for the first time, while Steve Bruce's side reached the 2014 FA Cup final and qualified for Europe. Historically, Hull's strongest teams have combined physical resilience, direct wing play and a capacity to progress through the divisions without major national honours.
