Eibar

SD Eibar were founded on 30 November 1940 as Eibar Football Club, through the merger of Deportivo Gallo and Union Deportiva Eibarresa in the Gipuzkoan gunmaking town that gives them the nickname Armeros. The first kit copied Athletic Club's red and white stripes; the blue and claret arrived in 1943-44, when the Gipuzkoa federation gave the club a full set of FC Barcelona kit. Ipurua, opened in 1947 on ground levelled with rubble from buildings destroyed in the Civil War, is their home.

Eibar won their Segunda Division B group in 1987-88 and then spent 18 seasons in a row in the second tier. In 2013-14, their first season back from the third tier, they won the Segunda Division and a first promotion to La Liga, then raised the share capital the league required through a share offer backed by fans. Reprieved in 2015 after Elche's administrative relegation, they spent seven seasons in La Liga, finishing ninth in 2017-18 under Jose Luis Mendilibar, before relegation in 2021.
