Overview

Sabadell in brief

CE Sabadell were founded on 11 December 1903 as Centre d'Esports de Sabadell, in the Valles Occidental comarca of Catalonia, and have used their present name, Centre d'Esports Sabadell Futbol Club, since 1975. The blue and white checked shirt gives the club its nickname, Arlequinats. After six decades at the Creu Alta ground, Sabadell moved to the Estadi de la Nova Creu Alta, which opened on 20 August 1967.

Sabadell have spent 14 seasons in La Liga, the last in 1987-88. Their best finish, fourth in 1968-69 under Pasieguito, earned an Inter-Cities Fairs Cup tie with Club Brugge the following season. They reached the 1935 Spanish cup final, losing 3-0 to Sevilla, and have won Segunda Division twice, in 1942-43 and 1945-46. After dropping to the fourth tier in 2024, they won back-to-back play-off promotions, the second against Zamora in June 2026, to return to Segunda.
