Nancy

AS Nancy-Lorraine date their foundation to 1967, when a professional club was created in Nancy, a project led by Claude Cuny after FC Nancy had given up professional status. The roots go back to Union Sportive Frontiere, founded in 1910 and renamed Association Sportive Lorraine in 1928; the old FC Nancy was a separate club. Known as Les Chardons, the Thistles, Nancy play in white and red at the Stade Marcel-Picot in Tomblaine, a ground first opened in 1926.

Nancy won the Coupe de France in 1978 and the Coupe de la Ligue in 2006, and reached the round of 32 of the 2006-07 UEFA Cup. They have won five second-division titles, in 1975, 1990, 1998, 2005 and 2016. In 2022 the club were relegated to the Championnat National for the first time, and three seasons later, in May 2025, they won the National title to return to Ligue 2.
