Coritiba

Coritiba were founded in Curitiba on 12 October 1909 by German immigrants and their descendants, growing out of the Clube Ginastico Teuto-Brasileiro gymnastics club, with Frederico "Fritz" Essenfelder among the founders; the name Coritiba was adopted in 1910. The club plays in green and white, the colours of the Parana state flag, and is known as Coxa or Coxa-Branca. Since 1932 home has been the Estadio Major Antonio Couto Pereira, which opened under the name Belfort Duarte.

Coritiba became Brazilian champions in 1985, beating Bangu on penalties in the final at the Maracana. They have won Serie B three times, in 2007, 2010 and 2025, the last sealed with a 2-1 win over Amazonas in Manaus on the final day, and were Copa do Brasil runners-up in 2011 and 2012. In 2011 the team put together a run of 24 consecutive wins in official matches. Coritiba also hold the record of 39 Campeonato Paranaense titles.
