Overview

RB Bragantino in brief

RB Bragantino, from Braganca Paulista in Sao Paulo state, began as Clube Atletico Bragantino, founded on 8 January 1928 by former members of Braganca Futebol Clube; the local press coined the nickname Massa Bruta in 1929. In 2019 Red Bull took control of the club's football, and since 2020 it has played as Red Bull Bragantino, in red and white rather than black and white. In May 2025, with the Nabi Abi Chedid to be rebuilt, the team moved to the municipal Estadio Cicero de Souza Marques, the Cicerao.

Bragantino's first golden spell came around 1990. Serie B champions in 1989, they won the 1990 Campeonato Paulista under Vanderlei Luxemburgo and, with Carlos Alberto Parreira in charge, reached the 1991 Brazilian championship final, losing to Sao Paulo. The club won Serie C in 2007 and Serie B again in 2019, the first season under Red Bull control. Back in Serie A, they reached the 2021 Copa Sudamericana final, losing 1-0 to Athletico Paranaense in Montevideo.
