Overview

Lens in brief

Founded in 1906, Lens represent a former coal-mining centre in the Pas-de-Calais department of northern France. The club are known as Les Sang et Or, or the Blood and Gold, after their red and gold colours. Their home is the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, opened in 1933 and long associated with exceptionally vocal crowds drawn from Lens and the surrounding mining communities.

Lens won their first French championship in 1997-98 under Daniel Leclercq, finishing ahead of Metz on goal difference, and added the Coupe de la Ligue the following year. Their European honours include two UEFA Intertoto Cups. After losing three earlier finals, Lens claimed their first Coupe de France in 2026, defeating Nice and adding another major trophy to the club's modern identity.
