Overview

Feyenoord in brief

Founded in 1908, Feyenoord represent Rotterdam and have long presented themselves as the people's club of the Netherlands' major port city. Known as De Stadionclub, they wear red-and-white halved shirts and draw support from across the working-class south of Rotterdam. Their home is Stadion Feijenoord, universally known as De Kuip, an atmospheric bowl that has staged the club's matches since 1937.

Feyenoord have won 16 Dutch championships, 14 KNVB Cups, one European Cup and two UEFA Cups. In 1970 they became the first Dutch club to win the European Cup, with Ernst Happel's disciplined side defeating Celtic in the final. UEFA Cup victories in 1974 and 2002 reinforced a historical identity built on physical commitment, aggressive wing play and the emotional force of De Kuip.
