Overview

NK Slaven Belupo in brief

NK Slaven Belupo are a football club from Koprivnica in northern Croatia. The first football club in Koprivnica, a students' team named Dacki nogometni klub, was formed in June 1907, while the Slaven name dates from HSK Slaven, founded by members of the Friedrich family in 1911 or 1912 (sources differ on the date). After spells under names including HSK Victorija and SD Podravka, the club became NK Slaven again in 1958. Since 1994 it has carried the name of the Koprivnica pharmaceutical company Belupo, which gives the team its nickname, Farmaceuti (the Pharmacists). Home matches are played at the city-owned Gradski stadion Ivan Kusek Apas in Koprivnica.

Slaven Belupo have not won a major trophy. They topped the northern section of the Croatian Second League in 1995-96 and, after finishing second in the 1. B HNL, reached the top division in 1997, where they have stayed ever since. Their best league finish is second place behind Dinamo Zagreb in 2007-08. They have lost all three of their Croatian Football Cup finals, to Dinamo Zagreb in 2007 and 2016 and to Rijeka in 2025. In Europe they reached the UEFA Intertoto Cup semi-finals in 2002 and 2004, and the UEFA Cup first round in 2008-09, where they lost to CSKA Moscow.
