Overview

Alanyaspor in brief

Alanyaspor are the football club of Alanya, a coastal town in Antalya Province on Turkey's Mediterranean shore. Founded in 1948 as an amateur side called Alanya Kalespor, the club took the Alanyaspor name and its orange-and-green colours in 1982. Known as Simsekler, or the Lightning, they play at the Alanya Oba Stadium, a compact all-seater ground of just under 10,000 seats.

Alanyaspor joined the professional third tier in 1984-85 and won its group in 1987-88 to earn promotion. A fourth-tier group title followed in 2003-04, before play-off final wins in 2014 and 2016 lifted the club through the TFF Second League and TFF First League into the Super Lig for the first time. Their top-flight era has brought fifth-place finishes in 2019-20 and 2021-22, a first European campaign in the 2020-21 Europa League qualifiers and a place in the 2020 Turkish Cup final, lost 2-0 to Trabzonspor.
