Trabzonspor

Founded in 1967 through the merger of several local clubs, Trabzonspor are the leading football club of Trabzon on Turkey's eastern Black Sea coast. The claret-and-blue team are known as Karadeniz Firtinasi, the Black Sea Storm, and as Bordo-Mavililer, the Claret and Blues. Their home is Papara Park, the sponsored name of the Senol Gunes Sports Complex, which replaced the historic Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium during the 2016-17 season.

Trabzonspor have won seven Super Lig titles, 10 Turkish Cups and 10 Turkish Super Cups. In 1975-76 they became the first club from outside Istanbul to win the Turkish league, and six titles in nine seasons up to 1983-84 made them the defining side of that era, with Ahmet Suat Ozyazici the coach most closely tied to it. A 38-year wait for a seventh championship ended in 2021-22.
