Gaziantep FK

Gaziantep FK were founded in 1988 as Sankospor, backed by the Gaziantep-based industrial group Sanko Holding, and became Gaziantep Buyuksehir Belediyespor under the city's metropolitan municipality in 1999. The club adopted the name Gazisehir Gaziantep in 2017 and has been Gaziantep FK since 2019. Home matches are played at the Gaziantep Stadium, opened in 2017 and known for a period as the Kalyon Stadium; the club's earlier home was the Kamil Ocak Stadium.

Gaziantep spent many seasons moving between the second and third tiers, winning third-tier groups in 1996-97 as Sankospor and in 2004-05 as Gaziantep Buyuksehir Belediyespor. After losing the 2018 TFF First League play-off final, they beat Hatayspor on penalties in the 2019 final to reach the Super Lig for the first time. In February 2023 the club withdrew from the rest of the 2022-23 season after the earthquakes that devastated the region; the federation protected their top-flight place, and they returned for 2023-24.
