Overview

Raków Częstochowa in brief

Rakow Czestochowa, usually known simply as Rakow, are a football club from Czestochowa in southern Poland. The club was founded on 15 March 1921 as Racovia in the village of Rakow, which gave the club its name and became a district of Czestochowa in 1928. After lapsing in 1925, it was revived in 1927 as the Workers' Sports Club (Robotniczy Klub Sportowy) Rakow, and restarted in 1945 with financial support from the city's steelworks. The team play in red and blue, are nicknamed Medaliki (the Medallions) and play at the Miejski Stadion Pilkarski Rakow, the municipal ground first built between 1951 and 1955.

Rakow spent most of their history outside the top flight. They lost the 1967 Polish Cup final 2-0 to Wisla Krakow and first reached the Ekstraklasa in 1994, staying for four seasons. After back-to-back relegations left them in the fourth tier in 2001, they won the I liga in 2018-19, then the Polish Cup in 2021 and 2022, the Polish Super Cup in 2021 and 2022, and a first Ekstraklasa title in 2022-23. In Europe they reached the Europa League group stage in 2023-24. In 2025-26 they finished second in the Conference League league phase before losing to Fiorentina in the round of 16, and lost the 2026 Polish Cup final to Gornik Zabrze.
