Overview

Frosinone in brief

Frosinone's conventional founding date is 1928, the year of affiliation to the Italian federation, although organised football in the city goes back further. The club represent Frosinone in Lazio and wear yellow and blue. Their nickname, I Canarini, means the Canaries, a reference to the yellow shirts. Home is the Stadio Benito Stirpe, opened in 2017 after the club's long association with the Matusa, the ground that hosted their first climb into Serie A.

Frosinone reached Serie B in 2006 before Roberto Stellone guided successive promotions in 2014 and 2015, bringing top-flight football to the club for the first time. A play-off victory secured another Serie A appearance in 2018. Under Fabio Grosso, Frosinone won their first Serie B championship in 2023. They won promotion again in 2026, adding another chapter to a history shaped by movement between Italy's divisions.
