Overview
Community Shield in brief
The Community Shield is English football's traditional season opener, first played in 1908 as the Charity Shield. It usually brings together the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners at Wembley, giving fans an early read on two trophy-winning sides before the league campaign begins. Manchester United hold the record with 21 shields, including four shared editions.
The 2026/27 season ran from 16 August 2026 to 16 August 2026.
Crystal Palace are the current holders after winning the 2025/26 edition.
