Copenhagen see off ten-man scare to beat Polessya in Conference League qualifier
FC Copenhagen beat Polessya 2-1 at Parken Stadium in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League, despite playing more than 45 minutes with ten men. Mohamed Elyounoussi converted a penalty in the 27th minute to give the hosts a lead they held at the break.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
The contest turned early in the second half when Junnosuke Suzuki was sent off in the 46th minute, leaving Copenhagen to defend their advantage a man light. They responded by doubling their lead instead, with Robert finishing off a Mads Emil Madsen assist in the 61st minute to make it 2-0. Polessya pulled a goal back deep into stoppage time, Mykola Gayduchyk scoring in the 90+3rd minute from a Borys Krushynskyi assist, but there was no time left for a further response.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Copenhagen dominated territorially, holding just 30 percent of possession yet still finding a way to control the outcome, while Polessya managed only five shots and two on target across the match. The visitors' late goal came against the run of play from a Copenhagen side that had spent much of the second half without their sent-off man.
Mads Emil Madsen supplied the assist for Robert's decisive second goal and was rated the top performer on the pitch with an 8.5 mark. Elyounoussi also impressed, scoring the opening penalty and finishing with a rating of 8.2.
Copenhagen produced 23 shots to Polessya's five, underlining their attacking control even after being reduced to ten men.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave FC Copenhagen 87%, the draw 8%, Polessya 5%. It finished FC Copenhagen 2–1 Polessya.
FC Copenhagen's rating gap decides it — FC Copenhagen are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of FC Copenhagen's 87%. The draw at 8% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why FC Copenhagen at 87%?
FC Copenhagen sit 493 points higher on our strength rating — 1755 to 1261. Sides with a more than 300-point rating edge at home won 79.8% of 5,030 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 88–7–5.
Why not higher?
No scored evidence points the other way. 87% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 8% and Polessya at 5%.
Why is the draw only 8%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 8.9%. These teams' recent games average 3.9 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 16,812.
What did we measure but not count?
Polessya have 9 fully-tracked matches with us — under our usual 25-game bar — but their strength rating is anchored to a conservative baseline from the long-run European club ratings list, which carries their wider competitive history into the number. Clubs from leagues we don't fully cover play too few tracked games for a record built from scratch, so their rating chain starts from published long-run club ratings instead of a blind first guess.
