Late David González strike gives Burgos win at Las Palmas
Las Palmas suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Burgos in a Segunda División round six meeting at Gran Canaria, with the visitors overturning a half-time deficit to snatch victory deep into stoppage time.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Jesé put Las Palmas ahead in the 37th minute, finishing off a Manu Fuster assist to send the hosts in front at the break. Burgos responded early in the second half through Álex Forés, who converted a Jon Karrikaburu pass in the 58th minute to level the score at 1-1. The tie remained level until the fourth minute of added time, when David González, set up by Javi Llabrés, struck to hand Burgos a dramatic 2-1 win.
Las Palmas dominated possession with 63 percent of the ball and had 13 shots to Burgos's 9, yet could not convert that control into a second goal. Burgos were more direct and disciplined in defence when it mattered, absorbing pressure before finding the decisive moments at each end of the match. The result lifted Burgos to fifth in the table on 11 points, while Las Palmas sit ninth with 10.
Álex Forés scored the equaliser for Burgos and earned the highest rating of the match at 8.14, capping an influential display in the away win.
Las Palmas held a commanding 63 percent of possession but were unable to turn that dominance into the points.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Las Palmas 47%, the draw 29%, Burgos 24%. It finished Las Palmas 1–2 Burgos.
Level sides, Las Palmas' control of the ball swings it — Nothing separates them on our strength rating, and Las Palmas' control of the ball plus Burgos' hot finishing due to cool give Las Palmas the lean. The draw at 29% is lifted by a low-scoring environment.
Why Las Palmas in front?
Almost nothing between them on our strength rating — 1664 to 1636. Sides this close won 45.6% of 14,695 home games (draw 26.5%, visitors 27.9%). Las Palmas hold 7 more possession points (54 to 47 in recent games) — and between equals, control has been worth something. Between evenly-matched sides, home teams with this control edge won 47.9% of 5,234 games, vs 43.9% when styles were level. Burgos scored +0.37 goals per game beyond chance-quality lately — hot streaks like that have cooled off. Visitors running this hot went on to win 28.8% of 1,512 games, vs 29.1% for visitors finishing normally.
Why only 47%?
Because on our strength rating there is nothing in it. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Las Palmas's column. Across 11,218 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.7% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Burgos win?
Between sides this level the draw starts at 26.5%. These teams' recent games average 2.1 goals — a low-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 28.1% of 18,230. The goals environment adds 3.5 points to the draw. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Las Palmas are 5 games into a new manager (Rubén De La Barrera), appointed 34 days ago. The famous new-manager bounce doesn't survive its receipt: sides with a new manager beat their rating by 0.9 points over 33,420 games — but sides on an equally bad run who kept their manager beat it by 2.4 over 31,777. Burgos won 2 of the last 6 meetings with Las Palmas. The record is 2 wins for Burgos, 4 draws and 0 wins for Las Palmas. These were 6 Segunda División games played at both grounds between 20 September 2021 and 7 February 2026. Latest meeting: 7 February 2026 — Las Palmas 0–0 Burgos. In 5,648 historical matches between similarly rated teams, visiting sides with the stronger head-to-head record won 28.1%.
