Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Rizespor 40%, the draw 26%, Samsunspor 34%. It finished Rizespor 0–2 Samsunspor.
Home ground outweighs Samsunspor's rating edge — Samsunspor are the stronger side on our strength rating, but home ground plus Samsunspor's hot finishing due to cool give Rizespor the lean. The draw at 26% is held down by a high-scoring environment.
Why Rizespor at 40%?
Home ground, against the rating. Samsunspor sit 84 points higher on our strength rating — 1607 to 1692. Sides with a 50–100-point rating edge on the road won 32.9% of 10,522 such games. Samsunspor scored +0.62 goals per game beyond chance-quality lately — hot streaks like that have cooled off. Visitors running this hot went on to win 29.0% of 1,446 games, vs 28.9% for visitors finishing normally.
Why only 40%?
Because Samsunspor are the stronger side on our strength rating. Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Rizespor's column. Across 10,641 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.1 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why the draw at 26%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 28.3%. These teams' recent games average 3.5 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 16,962. The goals environment takes 2.4 points off the draw. Early-season fixtures add 2.1 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Rizespor on 7 days' rest, Samsunspor on 4. Once class is accounted for, rest gaps stopped mattering — across 43,455 measured games no rest advantage repeated.
