Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Beşiktaş 55%, the draw 30%, Çorum FK 15%. It finished Beşiktaş 6–2 Çorum FK.
Beşiktaş's rating edge, but the draw is in play — Beşiktaş are the stronger side on our strength rating, and their cold finishing due to recover on top gives Beşiktaş a clear lead. The draw at 30% is lifted by a low-scoring environment.
Why Beşiktaş at 55%?
Beşiktaş sit 142 points higher on our strength rating — 1753 to 1611. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge at home won 57.1% of 12,764 such games. Beşiktaş sit -0.38 goals per game below chance-quality — cold streaks like this have bounced back. Finishing swings carry a receipt at this rating gap too: sides finishing this cold won 38.8% of 2,408 such games where the class table expected 36.3%. The 300 most similar past games finished 56–24–20.
Why only 55%?
Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Beşiktaş's column. Across 10,864 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.0 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Çorum FK win?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 24.2%. These teams' recent games average 2.0 goals — a low-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 28.2% of 18,161. The goals environment adds 3.2 points to the draw. Early-season fixtures add 2.0 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Çorum FK are newly promoted — game 3 of their first ten at this level, where our rating knows them least. Promoted sides ran below their rating in nine of the last ten seasons — 26.5% wins in their first ten games where the rating expected 30.0% (2,793 games since 2012), fading but still visible through game nineteen. Beşiktaş on 4 days' rest, Çorum FK on 9. Once class is accounted for, rest gaps stopped mattering — across 43,597 measured games no rest advantage repeated. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
