Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Fenerbahçe 52%, the draw 27%, Lyon 21%. It finished Fenerbahçe 1–1 Lyon.
Fenerbahçe's rating edge, but the draw is in play — Fenerbahçe are a shade stronger on our strength rating, and their control of the ball on top gives Fenerbahçe the lean. The draw at 27% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why Fenerbahçe at 52%?
Fenerbahçe sit 78 points higher on our strength rating — 1933 to 1855. Sides with a 50–100-point rating edge at home won 50.6% of 10,361 such games. Fenerbahçe hold 9 more possession points (61 to 52 in recent games) across a 78-point rating gap. Control now carries a receipt beyond near-equals too: sides with this control edge at a 75–150-point rating gap won 42.6% of 8,596 such games where the class table expected 41.3%.
Why only 52%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 52% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 27% and Lyon at 21%.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Lyon win?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 26.5%. These teams' recent games average 2.9 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,812. The control factor adds 1.2 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Fenerbahçe are unbeaten in their last 19 league games at home. Rolling home runs look imposing but sides on a 6+ run won 56.3% of 13,509 games vs 54.6% class-expected — and in our walked test the rating already carried it. Fenerbahçe are missing 1 regular starter — Jayden Oosterwolde — about 19% of their usual starting-XI weight. A body count alone told us nothing. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
