Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave FC Sion 33%, the draw 27%, Ajax 40%. It finished FC Sion 2–4 Ajax.
Ajax's rating edge outweighs FC Sion's home ground — Ajax are the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Ajax's 40%. The draw at 27% is about what a gap this size usually leaves.
Why Ajax at 40%?
Ajax sit 168 points higher on our strength rating — 1607 to 1774. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge on the road won 40.1% of 13,060 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 23–30–47.
Why only 40%?
No scored evidence points the other way. 40% is what this rating gap has been worth in games like these; the rest is the draw at 27% and FC Sion at 33%.
Why the draw at 27%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 27.2%. These teams' recent games average 2.8 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 24.6% of 24,823.
What did we measure but not count?
Ajax average 20 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 168 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. FC Sion on 7 days' rest, Ajax on 4. Once class is accounted for, rest gaps stopped mattering — across 43,443 measured games no rest advantage repeated. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
