Match report
Toluca see off ten-man Austin to reach Leagues Cup semi-finals
Toluca beat Austin 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup, a contest shaped early by Joseph Rosales' dismissal for the visitors in the 40th minute. The hosts made their numerical advantage count after the break, though the scoreline stayed goalless until deep into the second half.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Helinho converted a penalty in the 53rd minute to put Toluca ahead, and the lead held firm as Austin's ten men resisted further breakthroughs for long periods. It was not until the seventh minute of stoppage time that the game was settled, Jorge Díaz finishing off an Everardo López assist to make it 2-0 and confirm Toluca's passage to the next round.
Toluca dominated proceedings throughout, holding 66 percent of possession and firing 24 shots to Austin's seven, eight of them on target compared to none for the visitors. Austin's task was compounded by their red card and a stern defensive effort that ultimately could not keep out two second-half strikes.
Bradley Stuver posted the highest rating of the match at 9.2 for Austin despite the eventual defeat, a reflection of repeated saves that kept the scoreline from growing further out of reach. Helinho, meanwhile, scored the opening goal from the penalty spot and rated 8.7 for Toluca.
Toluca's 24 shots to Austin's seven underlined their overwhelming control of the match, particularly after going a man up following the 40th-minute red card.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Toluca 48%, the draw 27%, Austin 25%. It finished Toluca 2–0 Austin.
Toluca's rating edge, but the draw is in play — Toluca are the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Toluca's 48%. The draw at 27% is lifted by neutral ground.
Why Toluca at 48%?
Toluca sit 108 points higher on our strength rating — 1596 to 1488. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge at home won 57.1% of 12,742 such games.
Why only 48%?
A final at a neutral venue: Toluca lose the usual home lift, so the class read is re-centred. On grounds we detect as neutral, listed-home sides won 44.5% of 27,011 games vs 45.2% at real homes.
Why is the draw second, ahead of the Austin win?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 24.2%. These teams' recent games average 2.7 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.2% of 27,662. Neutral ground adds 1.5 points to the draw. The goals environment adds 1.3 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Toluca arrive with 15 fully-tracked matches, so their strength number is a first estimate that will move quickly; Austin bring a 213-game record. New-to-the-record sides are where our rating knows least.
